Creating a Custom Plaid for Needlepoint - Overview

For this collegiate Santa, I stitched a custom plaid in school colors using my Graduation Date (5-1-9-1-2).

Creating a custom plaid pattern is a great way to add detail to a needlepoint canvas while also customizing for the recipient. I’ve loved adding plaids in as backgrounds on canvases and look forward to sharing a bit more about creating a custom plaid, including step by step instructions (in two parts), in my next few posts. To start off, I’m sharing a bit more about how these plaids are used, inspiration for uses, ideas for variations of plaids, and even suggested finishes.
