I didn’t let the April rain showers get me down and focused on using the time inside to work on my backlog of projects. I ended the month surrounded by stitchers and designers as I attended KC Needlepoint’s Artist Weekend and Retreat. Not only did I get a chance to connect with stitchers at the event, I also got a chance to teach two classes to attendees, a true pinch me moment. As the seasons shift and ideas start to bloom, I’m looking forward to tackling some new projects in May. In between all this crafting, I’m sharing some of the items, needlepoint and otherwise, that I’ve been consuming this month.
What I’m Stitching
I’m a bit behind on finishing it, but I couldn’t resist stitching something for Easter. Most years the Easter Bunny would bring me a Beanie Beanie so I knew that Oliva Grace Needlepoint’s Floppity canvas would be a fun nod to my childhood. I also worked on a couple of gifts, but I’ll have to wait to share more about those in future posts.
What I’m Finishing
When finishing, I find it easiest to batch the work - cutting all the boards, creating the cookies, making the cording, and sewing them together in groups instead of one by one. I carved out a rainy weekend to catch up on my finishing and now have the following items finished to enjoy:
The Spring Door canvas that I taught at the retreat, this cute design will be released at a later date by Stitch Style Needlepoint
American Flag Bear by Skooter Designs
needlepoint nametag (I shared a tutorial for this project)
