Before and after a color swap on the Acorn canvas by Plum Design. I wanted a more traditional Fall color palette so chose threads from my stash and used a repeating color pattern with the acorns painted.

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I love a color swap. That is, using threads for stitching a needlepoint canvas that don’t match what’s painted on the canvas. While some question this practice, I embrace it fully and see it as another way to make each piece unique to me. I’m sharing a few reasons about why I am so passionate about a color swap as well as tips for color swapping below.
