Having quality leather items that I can quickly finish myself has been an absolute game changer. From passport covers to jewelry cases and bags, these items are a great way to keep finishing costs down and cut the finishing time drastically. While the leather products are great, using them with your stitched canvas is not for the faint of heart. One aspect I particularly struggle with is ensuring my canvas is the correct size for the opening. While pieces are advertised to fit canvases of a certain size, you often want to have extra rows on your stitching to make sure there is no chance canvas will be visible once the item is in place. I’m sharing my trick for sizing items for finishing below.
